According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ohchr.org\/es\/instruments-mechanisms\/instruments\/declaration-elimination-violence-against-women\">the<\/a> 1993 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ohchr.org\/es\/instruments-mechanisms\/instruments\/declaration-elimination-violence-against-women\">Declaration on the Elimination of Violence against Women<\/a>, violence against women is defined as &#8220;violence against women&#8221;.<strong>any act of gender-based violence that results in, or is likely to result in, physical, sexual or psychological harm or suffering to women, including threats of such acts, coercion or arbitrary deprivation of liberty, whether occurring in public or in private life.<\/strong>&#8221;. Therefore, violence against women is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/es\/observances\/ending-violence-against-women-day\">an obstacle to achieving equality, development, peace<\/a>, and <strong>their consolidation in society based on full respect for their rights<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-ba06f6574d0e94cd87ee1dbc08f8785e\" style=\"color:#4a4a4a\">Through the  <a href=\"https:\/\/documents-dds-ny.un.org\/doc\/UNDOC\/GEN\/N00\/271\/24\/PDF\/N0027124.pdf\">Resolution 54\/134<\/a>The United Nations General Assembly&#8217;s resolution of December 17, 1999,  <strong>November 25 was declared the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.<\/strong>The aim is to carry out campaigns to raise awareness of this problem, with the aim of taking into account  <strong>the degree of special vulnerability that some women have<\/strong>  when added to contexts related to migration, indigenous or rural communities, age, disability or armed conflict,  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acnur.org\/fileadmin\/Documentos\/BDL\/2017\/11405.pdf\">among other contexts<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-e55fd6fdf6f8fbbf0b8f6f7190ed1278\" style=\"color:#4a4a4a\">It is important to highlight that  <strong>violence against women and girls continues to be a form of human rights violation  <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unwomen.org\/es\/what-we-do\/ending-violence-against-women\/unite\/theme\"><strong>and more frequent and widespread throughout the world<\/strong><\/a>and it is estimated that  <a href=\"https:\/\/iris.who.int\/bitstream\/handle\/10665\/341337\/9789240022256-eng.pdf\">736 million women have experienced physical or sexual intimate partner violence, non-partner sexual violence, or both, at least once in their lifetime.<\/a>. Other important figures reflecting the state of the situation of violence against women would be the following: in 2021,  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unwomen.org\/es\/noticias\/reportaje\/2022\/11\/cinco-datos-clave-que-debe-saber-sobre-el-femicidio\">some 45,000 women and girls<\/a>  died at the hands of their partners or other family members around the world; in addition,  <a href=\"https:\/\/unstats.un.org\/unsd\/gender\/worldswomen2015.html\">less than 40% of women<\/a>  who experience violence seek some type of help, which reflects the fact that a large percentage of women may live with the after-effects of violence throughout their lives,  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unwomen.org\/es\/what-we-do\/ending-violence-against-women\/facts-and-figures#_edn11\">at least 200 million women and girls between the ages of 15 and 49 have been subjected to female genital mutilation.<\/a>  in the 31 countries where this practice is concentrated.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-efcfcb00e5073f2c8fbbe98c770afd6c\" style=\"color:#4a4a4a\">Violence against women can also be reflected in a number of crimes that have been criminalized in different parts of the world, as in the case of  <strong>femicide, rape, sexual harassment, online harassment or cyberstalking, domestic violence, child marriage, female genital mutilation, psychological abuse, trafficking in women and girls, among others.<\/strong>. In order to focus only on the development of the context of one of these crimes, for a better understanding and greater awareness in favor of the victims, the following,  <strong>we will focus on the issue of trafficking in women and girls.<\/strong>and its link with the current global crisis contexts.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-604c0f36df3e63349d2b5f3139696a7e\" style=\"color:#4a4a4a\">Trafficking in women and girls is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unwomen.org\/es\/digital-library\/publications\/2022\/10\/trata-de-mujeres-y-ninas-las-crisis-como-factor-multiplicador-de-riesgos-informe-del-secretario-general-2022\">a serious violation of human rights and a form of violence<\/a>. With regard to trafficking in women, in 2020, it was found that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unodc.org\/unodc\/data-and-analysis\/glotip.html\">for every 10 victims of human trafficking in the world<\/a>, four of them were adult women, and two were girls. In addition, most of the victims of trafficking for sexual exploitation detected are women, accounting for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unodc.org\/unodc\/data-and-analysis\/glotip.html\">91% of the total<\/a>. It also states that women victims of trafficking are subjected to physical or extreme violence by traffickers at a rate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unodc.org\/unodc\/data-and-analysis\/glotip.html\">three times higher than that of men<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-0e14700c820fdc3487f8191393169a91\" style=\"color:#4a4a4a\">Therefore,  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unwomen.org\/es\/digital-library\/publications\/2022\/10\/trata-de-mujeres-y-ninas-las-crisis-como-factor-multiplicador-de-riesgos-informe-del-secretario-general-2022\">the growing crises affecting our world<\/a>such as,  <strong>climate change, conflicts and the COVID &#8211; 19 pandemic (from the consequences of which we are still recovering)<\/strong>The risk of women and girls becoming victims of trafficking is increased, due to the increased vulnerability of these two groups, both in terms of factors such as  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unwomen.org\/es\/digital-library\/publications\/2022\/10\/trata-de-mujeres-y-ninas-las-crisis-como-factor-multiplicador-de-riesgos-informe-del-secretario-general-2022\">poverty, economic insecurity, migratory displacement, violence and discrimination<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-52c232c5369222d38f0b4195d9e8a2fa\" style=\"color:#4a4a4a\">As for the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have that, as a result of the border closure,  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unodc.org\/documents\/ropan\/2020\/Impacto_del_Covid_19_en_la_trata_de_personas.pdf\">technology was used as an avenue for the recruitment and exploitation of women and girls<\/a>which  <strong>has been maintained in spite of the lifting of restrictions<\/strong>This is especially true in the case of misleading job advertisements related to trafficking, or the use of dating apps to recruit future victims. In addition, the Internet makes it easier than ever before for them to offer the sexual services of these women and girls.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-e170d51440203baff55c80b2c3f738fe\" style=\"color:#4a4a4a\">With respect to climate change,  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unwomen.org\/es\/digital-library\/publications\/2022\/10\/trata-de-mujeres-y-ninas-las-crisis-como-factor-multiplicador-de-riesgos-informe-del-secretario-general-2022\">This not only exacerbates gender inequalities<\/a>,  <strong>due to its devastating impact on the livelihoods of the most vulnerable people<\/strong>but also,  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unwomen.org\/es\/digital-library\/publications\/2022\/10\/trata-de-mujeres-y-ninas-las-crisis-como-factor-multiplicador-de-riesgos-informe-del-secretario-general-2022\">intensifies the risk factors for trafficking<\/a>especially,  <strong>when women and girls end up opting for migration routes that put them at risk from traffickers<\/strong>. Similarly, natural disasters linked to climate change in recent years demonstrate how they have a direct influence on trafficking cases; for example, we have <a href=\"https:\/\/publications.iom.int\/books\/assessing-evidence-environment-climate-change-and-migration-bangladesh\">the cases of Cyclone Aila in Bangladesh during 2009<\/a>, or what happened with <a href=\"https:\/\/docslib.org\/doc\/11727519\/the-trafficking-of-girls-and-young-women-in-nepal\">the earthquake in Nepal in 2015<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-cb193a9d8d411a95ea422a76d4302bd8\" style=\"color:#4a4a4a\">In relation to conflict, about <a href=\"https:\/\/unstats.un.org\/sdgs\/report\/2022\/The-Sustainable-Development-Goals-Report-2022_Spanish.pdf\">a quarter of the world&#8217;s population<\/a> now lives in conflict zones, the <strong>highest number of violent conflicts since the end of World War II<\/strong>. Based on the conflict in Ukraine, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unwomen.org\/es\/digital-library\/publications\/2022\/10\/trata-de-mujeres-y-ninas-las-crisis-como-factor-multiplicador-de-riesgos-informe-del-secretario-general-2022\">until July 22, 2022<\/a>.As a result, nearly 6 million people had fled Ukraine to neighboring countries or elsewhere; and, a total of 7.1 million people were displaced within the country, with an estimated 90% of those fleeing Ukraine being women and children, who are at high risk of being trafficked for sexual or labor purposes.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-94e106c57657266c1407c4dbaab563bf\" style=\"color:#4a4a4a\">Taking into account all of the above,  <strong>it is important to recognize the crisis contexts that are currently being experienced<\/strong>The aim is to establish governmental measures or policies, as well as those of regional or international organizations, to significantly reduce the impact of these contexts on the trafficking of girls and women and, in general, on violence against them.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-d4b373a15dd175937434af9af903cebd\" style=\"color:#4a4a4a\">In relation to prevention, the <strong>United Nations has launched the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence campaign<\/strong>, to be held from November 25 to December 10, with this year&#8217;s theme: &#8220;UNiTE! Invest to prevent violence against women and girls&#8221;. It calls on civil society to reflect, and <strong>on governments around the world to invest in prevention to eradicate violence against women and girls<\/strong>, in pursuit of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unwomen.org\/es\/what-we-do\/ending-violence-against-women\/unite\/theme\">a safer, more equal and prosperous world<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-2e80e0efb76e9fe9c070ac48f42d5f1c\" style=\"color:#4a4a4a\">From FIBGAR, we want to join the call, and from November 25 until December 10, every day, we will publish a <strong>podcast talking about different women<\/strong> who have contributed to the realization of the rights of women and all people.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-14c4bfd2d6b29934a7a0178cc5e8e7a6\" style=\"color:#4a4a4a\">No doubt about it,  <strong>eradicating violence against women and girls is everyone&#8217;s job.<\/strong>This is measured not only at the international or governmental level, but requires taking steps and raising awareness at home, through the use of education, to make the bumpy road easier to travel over time.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-8fff402841dff4ad4194ab90e2a15dc7\" style=\"color:#4a4a4a\"><strong>Lessa Verushka Saer Lopez, FIBGAR collaborator.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The context of historical and structural discrimination against women is manifested in practices that have affected, unfortunately affect and will continue to affect women around the world.
