The Baltasar Garz\u00f3n International Foundation (FIBGAR) has been officially recognised as a memory organisation with its registration in the State Register of Democratic Memory Organisations,<\/strong> under the Ministry of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This registration represents significant institutional support for the work that FIBGAR has been carrying out in defence of human rights, universal justice and the preservation of historical and democratic memory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Law 20\/2022 of 19 October on Democratic Memory<\/a><\/strong> establishes in Article 59<\/strong> the creation of this Register, designed to raise the profile of and support entities committed to the recovery, preservation and dissemination of democratic memory in Spain. The law promotes actions that recognise the victims of the Civil War, the Franco dictatorship and political repression, while encouraging the transmission of democratic values to new generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Royal Decree 265\/2025, of 8 April<\/a><\/strong>, develops this legal framework and regulates both the Council for Democratic Memory and the State Register itself.<\/strong> It details the requirements and documentation that organisations dedicated to memory must provide in order to be eligible for registration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This recognition is directly linked to the projects that FIBGAR has been promoting for years. One of the most notable is Memor\u00edzate<\/a><\/strong>, an educational and advocacy initiative aimed at bringing democratic memory closer to the public, especially young people. Memor\u00edzate is committed to active pedagogy<\/strong> that encourages critical thinking and helps new generations recognise the value of democratic coexistence<\/strong>, through the dissemination of content on social networks and the creation of a digital archive<\/a> through the compilation of interviews and testimonies from people belonging to the world of memory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another fundamental project is the Women\u2019s Network for Memory and Democracy (REDMEM)<\/a><\/strong>. This network is structured as a space for meeting and collective action among women researchers, activists, teachers, cultural professionals and human rights defenders. REDMEM works to highlight the role of women in the construction of democratic memory<\/strong>, emphasising both their experiences of resistance and struggle and the historical silencing they have suffered. Through community activities, intergenerational encounters and collaborative processes, the network promotes the vindication of a broader, more inclusive and feminist memory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The incorporation of FIBGAR into the State Register is therefore a recognition of its track record and a boost to its present and future work for democratic memory. In a context where democratic memory continues to be a key space for understanding our past<\/strong> and strengthening our coexistence<\/strong>, the work of FIBGAR, together with that of other memorial organisations, contributes to promoting a more conscious and just society<\/strong> that is committed to the permanent defence of human rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
