In this context, the seminar seeks not only to create a space for specialised analysis, but also to bring the debate on universal jurisdiction closer to the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The programme will be structured around a keynote lecture and three thematic panels, followed by spaces for dialogue among participants. The objective is to promote a critical exchange on the role of universal jurisdiction in the prosecution of international crimes, as well as to reflect on its relevance for processes of memory, truth and justice in the region. In addition, the discussions held during the seminar will serve as the basis for the preparation of a final document compiling the main conclusions and contributions emerging from the meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The panels will feature the participation of prominent figures from the legal and human rights fields, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Baltasar Garz\u00f3n \u2013 Jurist and Honorary President of FIBGAR.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ra\u00fal Zaffaroni \u2013 Jurist and Director of the Founding Academic Board of the Instituto Fray Bartolom\u00e9 de las Casas.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Julieta Mira \u2013 Jurist specialising in universal jurisdiction, professor and researcher at CONICET.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Douglas Dur\u00e1n Chavarr\u00eda \u2013 Jurist and Director of the United Nations Latin American Institute for the Prevention of Crime and the Treatment of Offenders (ILANUD), Costa Rica.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Alessia Schiavon \u2013 Jurist, Executive Director of FIBGAR.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mat\u00edas Bailone \u2013 Jurist and Legal Secretary of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation of Argentina.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Gerardo Pisarello \u2013 Jurist and Member of Parliament for Barcelona (Spain), son of desaparecidos.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Victoria Montenegro \u2013 Politician and human rights activist, daughter of desaparecidos.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pablo Llonto \u2013 Jurist, writer and journalist.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Miguel \u00c1ngel Osorio \u2013 Jurist and Federal Prosecutor General of the Buenos Aires.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ana Oberlin \u2013 Assistant Prosecutor at the Public Prosecutor\u2019s Office of La Plata.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This seminar seeks to consolidate itself as a regional forum for reflection on the potential of universal jurisdiction to combat impunity for the most serious crimes under international law, as well as to strengthen processes of transnational justice in Latin America.
