La jurisdicción universal en Europa: una perspectiva crítica

📢 FIBGAR, with the support of the European Center for Constitutional and Human Rights (ECCHR), the Global Initiative Against Impunity, Fondazione Basso and the European Union, is organising the event “Universal Jurisdiction in Europe: A Critical Perspective”, taking place on 17 September at Fondazione Basso in Rome, on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the Madrid–Buenos Aires Principles on Universal Jurisdiction.

⚖️ Through a moderated expert roundtable, the event will examine the evolution of universal jurisdiction in Europe over the past decade, the main challenges affecting its implementation, and the outstanding issues that need to be addressed to ensure its effectiveness as a tool for accountability for international crimes.

🌍 The discussion will also explore the future of universal jurisdiction and the measures needed to strengthen cooperation among European actors and legal systems in the fight against impunity.

🤝 The event will bring together experts and practitioners working in the field of international justice to exchange perspectives on progress made, existing challenges, and opportunities to strengthen the application of universal jurisdiction in Europe over the next decade.
