The Memorízate project has been selected to participate in the World Forum for Democracy.

It is a pleasure to announce that the FIBGAR project, Memorízate has been selected to participate in the World Forum for Democracy 2023 (World Forum for Democracy) of the Council of Europe. This year’s theme is Democracy = Peace? and will take place on November 6, 7 and 8 in Strasbourg. Thus, since 2012, the forum has hosted a place for political decision-making where solutions are discussed to analyze the key challenges facing democracies around the world.

Memorízate has been selected among 400 proposals as an initiative that promotes democracy by generating knowledge among civil society. This is why the project will be exhibited in Lab 4: Knowledge is power – how can we make knowledge more accessible and innovative? Thus, Memorízate will be exhibited as a master project that aims to reconstruct the collective memory of the Spanish Civil War and Franco’s dictatorship. Under the premise that young people are the main drivers of the transmission of memory, the direct beneficiaries of the project are young Spaniards.

The project specifically has a three-fold purpose:

1) collect individual stories and data from victims, witnesses, survivors, etc. under the premise that dialogue can be a collective healing process (Memorize yourself);

2) raise awareness about democratic memory and promote youth interaction through social networks (YouTube, Instagram and Twitter) (¡Memorízate ¡Activízate our democratic memory!); and

3) promote the intergenerational exchange of knowledge and experiences (Memorize! – Let’s commit to memory!).
