
Presentation of the Women’s Network for Memory and Democracy (REDMEM)

FIBGAR, El Club de las 25 and the Equality Unit of the Complutense University of Madrid celebrate the presentation of the Network of Women for Memory and Democracy (REDMEM), an initiative dedicated to making visible the role of women in democratic memory and strengthening their active participation in democracy.
This meeting aims to foster the creation of a Network of Women for Memory and Democracy, promoting intergenerational dialogue and the exchange of experiences to consolidate democratic values and social justice.
The day will begin with an initial greeting from Isabel Tajahuerce Ángel, Rector’s Delegate for Equality at the Complutense University of Madrid.
The event will feature the participation of prominent speakers in two panel discussions:
Panel 1: «Feminist movement and democratic memory: Justice, truth and reparation»
Lourdes Pastor Martínez – Singer, sociologist and feminist activist
Blanca Calvo Alonso – Historian and disseminator
María Bueno Morales – President of collectives of Victims of Enforced Disappearances
Amalia Rosado Orquín – Doctor in Gender
Rosana Sáez Muñoyerro – Creator of the podcast ‘La Caja 198. A rural history of silences’.
Panel 2: «Democracy and the role of women: Challenges and advances in gender equality»
Carmina Gustrán Loscos – Commissioner for the celebration of 50 years of Spain in Freedom
Natalia Junquera – Journalist specialising in Human Rights and Memory (El País)
Cristina Almeida Castro – President of the Club of 25
Francisca Sauquillo Pérez del Arco – Founder and president of the Movement for Peace since 1984
Emilia Graña Ramos- Sabugo – Political scientist and member of the Democratic Women’s Movement
Núria González López – Lawyer specialising in Human Rights and member of the statewide feminist platform ‘La Fuerza de las Mujeres’
The day will include a musical performance by Lourdes Pastor with Melón Jiménez on guitar, as well as a space for collaborative work to establish the calendar of activities of the Women’s Network for Memory and Democracy.
