Education / Human rights
In the current context of the rise of misinformation and polarisation on social media, it is essential to equip young people with critical tools to understand the past, reflect on the present and act as agents of change. This project contributes to:
‘Democracy Labs’ aims to strengthen the teaching-learning of European democratic memory and lay the foundations for a culture of peace that empowers young people as agents of change. More specifically, it aims to design and develop educational tools on democratic memory, media literacy and human rights; to promote debates and cooperative learning in schools; and to evaluate and validate educational materials through participatory workshops.
In line with these objectives, this project seeks to empower young people in the 4th year of ESO and 1st year of Bachillerato in the Valencian Community through the creation and application of educational resources that integrate European democratic memory, media literacy and human rights.
Through the development of 10 educational units and the implementation of participatory workshops in different schools in four or five towns in the province of Valencia, FIBGAR aims to promote critical thinking, constructive debate and the ability to act as agents of change. The materials developed will be evaluated in the workshops and disseminated on the website of the Provincial Council of Valencia for public use.
