Essay contest The New Human Rights Agenda in Latin America and the Caribbean

In 2015, together with the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO), FIBGAR launched the essay contest The New Human Rights Agenda in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The prizes were awarded during the VII Latin American and Caribbean Conference of Social Sciences in Medellin, following an evaluation process carried out by an International Committee composed of specialists: Eduardo Barcesat, Eduardo Rinesi, Fanny Rubio, Manuel Ollè Sesè, María Cristina Perceval, Salete Valesan, and Vernor Munoz Villalobos.

The award winners were:

  • Elida de Dos Santos (Brazil): Aprender co/a a partir do Surl: redefinindo conceitos, contextos, vozes e narrativas para uma nova política de direitos humanos na América Latina.
  • Erick Leonardo Gutierrez Garcia (Venezuela): Desafios de la justicia indígena em Venezuela: el “caso Sabino Romero”.
  • Maria belen Villegas Pla (Uruguay): “La Suiza de America”: bases and discursive translations in the implementation of the so-called “new rights” in Uruguay.
