Youth for a Diverse Spain (JESDI)

In 2021 and 2022, FIBGAR carried out the Youth for a Diverse Spain (JESDI) project, co-funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, with the aim of strengthening a culture of peace through the promotion and dissemination of our European democratic memory.

JESDI sought to respond to the present challenges in terms of memory, favoring spaces for learning, critical thinking and constructive dialogue among young people.

From November 2021 to February 2022, 10 virtual meetings were held to promote reflection and debate on European democratic memory, covering the origin and consequences of the conflicts of the 20th century on European soil, the processes of truth, justice and reparation, the recovery of democracy, as well as the creation and development of the European Union, the identity and collective memory of the continent, as well as the danger represented by hate speech today.

Face-to-face meetings were also held in institutes.

In addition, guides for educators were produced to serve as a guideline for teaching these meetings in the classrooms of schools or institutes.
