Expanding Anonymous Tipping (EAT)

Between 2019 and 2021, FIBGAR led the Expanding Anonymous Tipping (EAT) project, co-financed by the Internal Security Fund of the European Commission, which was implemented in 10 European countries.

EAT was conceived and developed as a direct response to Directive (EU) 2019/1937 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the protection of persons who report breaches of EU law.

Therefore, the project aimed to promote the implementation and development of mailboxes for the secure and confidential or anonymous submission of alerts and reports of fraudulent actions and irregularities in public institutions and private companies in 10 EU countries with the highest level of corruption, according to the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) generated globally by Transparency International.

Ultimately, EAT supported the promotion of a culture of whistleblowing as a measure to contribute to a lower overall level of corruption that empowers civil society.
