RAGAA Raise Against Gender Apartheid in Afghanistan

RAGAA – Raise Against Gender Apartheid in Afghanistan is an initiative by FIBGAR in collaboration with the association People Help (PH) that aims to raise awareness, document, and denounce the systematic violence faced by women and girls in Afghanistan. Confronting a regime that has established a true gender apartheid, RAGAA seeks to foster international awareness, promote effective protection, and facilitate access to justice, placing victims at the center of all actions.

The project is structured around three main pillars:

  • Legal recognition of gender apartheid: Rigorous documentation of cases of discrimination, violence, and exclusion to promote its inclusion in international legal frameworks.
  • Effective international protection: Promotion of agile mechanisms that guarantee humanitarian assistance, refuge, and protection measures against imminent threats.
  • Access to national and international justice: Support for legal strategies and advocacy initiatives enabling victims and their representatives to access courts and international bodies.

The initiative combines research, case documentation, and collaboration with allied organizations and feminist movements, fostering political and social advocacy. RAGAA culminates in the dissemination of reports and strategic materials aimed at raising awareness among governments, international organizations, civil society, and the global public, mobilizing collective action to demand recognition, accountability, and protective measures for Afghan women.

RAGAA asserts that gender apartheid constitutes a crime against humanity: its recognition and sanction are not only a legal requirement but also a moral obligation. Remaining indifferent to this crisis is tantamount to allowing impunity to continue.
